All band parents and students are asked to view and sign the Band Handbook form each year as band is a co-curricular class. This means that students meet daily during the school day, but on occasion might be asked to also attend before or after school events and performances. Students cannot attend the band lock-in or the end of the year band trip without having this form completed. The link above is a digital copy. Parents may contact Mr. Ostrow directly to request a paper version.
Handbook topics include A Letter from the Director, A Note to New Students, Curriculum and Goals, Grading Policy, Student Ensemble Placement, Bead Achievement System, Performance Attire, Parent Responsibilities, Band Booster Organization, Awards and Recognition, Band Procedures, Band Rules and Band Motto, Instrument and Accessories Selection Guide, Request for Excused Absence or Tardy Form, Band Calendar, and Band Handbook Contract
Second year band students (post Beginning Band) are asked to acquire their own instrument and accessories. Most parents rent-to-own instruments from local vendors. Students that play oboe, bassoon, french horn, euphonium and tuba will be provided with a school instrument.
This is a list of local music stores, repair people, and private lesson instructors.
Parents are asked to complete this form if they know a rehearsal or performance will be missed so the director can adequately prepare.
