A NOTE FROM THE TEAM:
We would like to welcome you to Third Grade and a new school year here at Meadow Park Elementary. Each day we strive to meet the various needs of our students through engaging and rigorous lessons. Third grade is a very important year in elementary school! We need your help to ensure your child’s success. This year, we will navigate a plethora of grade level standards and skills. Students will explore a new social studies curriculum while learning about topics such as what it means to be a good citizen and Florida’s geography. In science, we will learn about animal and plant adaptations, experiment with force and motion and discover the many forms that energy can take on. Third-graders will build upon prior math skills to master their multiplication and division facts, understand the meaning of a fraction and how it relates to a whole, and identify attributes of shapes to strengthen their geometry skills.
Lastly and most importantly, students will transition from learning to read to reading to learn. Daily lessons will involve identifying the central idea and supporting details of a passage, using context clues to discover the meaning of a text and learn to summarize what they read. This will involve a daily written response to demonstrate an understanding of these skills. Students must use reading skills for every aspect of their learning. It is crucial that we work together to build a strong educational foundation for your child. We are excited to be on this journey with you!

REMINDERS
We kindly ask for your support in the following areas to ensure our students’ safety and success:
It is essential that all students wear their ID badges every day to help us quickly identify them and ensure their safety throughout the school day. Please remind your child to wear their ID badge every morning before leaving for school.
Additionally, being present from bell to bell is crucial for your child’s academic success, so we encourage students to be on time and stay until the end of the school day to maximize their learning opportunities. Every minute counts!
Finally, for any changes to your child’s transportation at dismissal time, please make sure to notify us in writing through your child’s agenda or the Remind app. This helps us ensure that your child gets home safely and as planned.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we can create a safe and productive environment for all our students.
