Our Mission Statement
The ÁùºÏ²Êͼ¿â Security & Emergency Management Division, in collaboration with the Charlotte County Sherriff’s Office and the Punta Gorda Police Department, is committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all our students and staff through vigilance and pro-activity.
The Charlotte County Public School’s Security Division comprises 26 highly trained and motivated personnel. There is at least one (1) Security Guard assigned to each school. Each member of the division brings a wealth of expertise to the table with a wide variety of prior experience in either Military, Law Enforcement, or Public Safety. Our School Security Guards proudly serve the students, staff, and visitors to their campuses to ensure a safe and secure environment in which to learn. Listed below are some of the proactive measures utilized to ensure the safety of our students.- A trained, armed School Resource Officer and School Security Guard are assigned to every school (schools with more than one thousand students have two SROs and two Security Guards)
- A mobile panic alert system at every school
- A dedicated Threat Management Team at every school
- A designated School Safety Specialist in the district
- School Board-adopted plans for active assailant and family reunification
- Regular emergency drills at all schools
- Annual school and district risk assessments
- Safety Incident Data reporting
- Mandatory ID badges for staff and visitors
- Security Surveillance system in each school
- Single point of entry at every school.

SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER

Deputy First Class Cesar Nova moved to Florida from New York City with his family in 1995 and made it their home. He graduated from the Florida Highway Patrol Training Academy in September of 2002. He joined the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office in late 2008 and served as a Certified Reserve Deputy until he joined CCSO full-time in November of 2009.
He worked in the capacity of Road Patrol Deputy and Field Training Officer until he joined the Juvenile Operations Unit in August of 2019 as a School Resource Officer. He worked as the SRO at Port Charlotte High School, and Neil Armstrong Elementary School until he became the SRO at Charlotte Technical College in August of 2021.
